First Place – Holiday Décor – “Two Liberty Place”

Project Description – by Rich Batcho

Materials: 36” diameter ornaments, flocked life-like trees, 14’ life-like trees.

The management company of this sky scraper likes their Holiday Décor to be “Outside the Box”. The building consists of two lobbies and the décor must be a mirror image. Besides the floor space to be decorated there are ledges above the security stations that also must have décor on them. The ledges are 12’ off the ground. The two 14’ life-like trees are in a very narrow space.

The elements, ornaments and color theme used are what makes this design unique along with the fact that there is hardly any green from the tree showing. We do not do cookie-cutter holiday, our designs are one of a kind and never duplicated for another building.
To carry out the Plum/Purple theme we also incorporated Purple LED Lights into the tree along with the clear lights.

I found a new vendor who had the oversized ornaments and could paint them purple for us. They assured us we would have them on time for the installation date. A week out from the install, I found out the ornaments were damaged at the border and the earliest they could get me new ones would be 4 weeks.

Crisis mode sets in as I can’t wait that long. Luckily, I remember seeing huge ornaments at Homegoods. After going to several stores to buy what they had and not the correct color, I was off to my local car collision center for a custom paint job. They had all 8 finished for me the day before  installation. (Thinking outside the box…)
